The Details Behind the New HockeyNC Logo!

With the beginning of the 2019-20 hockey season underway I felt the need to upgrade the HockeyNC logo.  Mind you, I like the last logo, but it was my first attempt at creating something substantial that would be one of the most important parts of Hockey in North Carolina.

Out with the old...

The previous logo (left) was simple and to the point.  It had the State of North Carolina in a solid blue shade, with HockeyNC in gold lettering, the state flag in the O, and a crossing pair of red and blue hockey sticks. It's a great first try, but I wanted something more professional, sleeker, and with symbolism.
...and in with the new!

As stated before, the new HockeyNC logo has everything that I wished the old logo contained.

To start, diamond shape satisfied two criteria I wanted for the next logo: a soccer-like shield and to be a resemble the signs for the state highway routes which are a black square with a white diamond.

The colors of the North Carolina state flag: blue, white, red, and are retained from the previous logo, but the blue is a different shade.  The logo is arranged to look like the flag if it was to hung vertically correctly.

The flag of North Carolina IS in the diamond shield surrounded by a thick black border in order to look like a puck on it's side.

Lastly, the "2018" in smaller font near the bottom represents the year that HockeyNC state.  A year ago this month is when I started Hockey in North Carolina and it has grown so much over that time!

The feedback for the new logo has been nothing short of amazing and I am happy that those of you that have commented about the new look have been so positive!  Here's to a bigger and better year for Hockey in North Carolina!
